My name is Jenny Furman, and I am a self-educated artist. I was born in Siberia and live in Israel since I was 17. When I was a kid, I really wanted to study in the school of arts, but my parents (both of them were athletes) thought that I would be more successful in the field of sports than in the art. As a result, I started practicing artistic gymnastics when I was 5.
But my love for drawing and painting was born with me and as far as I can remember, I have always have been painting. And as soon as I started making money, I took professional art courses.
In all the years I’ve been drawing and painting I’ve become convinced of only one thing: when you truly want something, when you feel a true passion for your craft and do what you love, then there are no barriers and the entire Universe finds a way to help you on your way.
All my works reflect not that seen world or still life, but rather, I think, channels of energy that want to manifest in this world. Each one is a story about the loss and destruction of self when you try to deny yourself your true path, block expression of your true talents, and try to hide your own uniqueness. In each work I tell the story of my journey, my talents, my uniqueness. Each one speaks to not being afraid of being different—and of not fearing your own ability to see the world differently from others.
I paint about the courage to realize and express one’s own ideas, even if others find them funny and strange. I paint about reigniting that internal flame. I paint to show that we should each look deeply inside ourselves, because it is there that we may discover the true treasure and meaning of existence.
